FRIENDSHIP BRACELETS

Giving someone a friendship bracelet is a great way to show them how much you care. They are all symbols of the love you have for your cherished friends. I was looking forward to make bracelets with my 3-year old grandson Linas.

But on our first few attempts, I ended up doing most of the work. I forgot how challenging it can be for little fingers to work with the very thin and unforgiving embroidery floss.

Maybe we will do an easy one first and next week, I'll do the tutorial for the more challenging bracelets. So, here are two easy patterns for kids.

FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS

FRIENDSHIP
BRACELETs
Flaunt your friendship with
                    a friendship bracelet

This week I have been thinking about friendship, because my 3 year old grandson wants a friendship bracelet. Well, friends, ask and you shall receive! It is time-consuming, but that is how  friendship bracelets are. If you wanted to celebrate or confirm a friendship, you made a bracelet. These multi-color pieces hold meaning for us, or why would we wear them?

There is something quite special about a handmade bracelet. It's almost like displaying the bond you both have to the world. Friendship bracelets are popular not only among kids but also among adults. I think despite being a hot topic and a current trend, if you like me and Linas, you’ll be excited to know that this playful accessory is now back in fashion.

What is your favorite friendship bracelet, if you have to choose?-- We love mixing colors. Adding a pop of neon, or unexpected colors and clashes on one wrist-The  Best! Whether you're collected them over the years from mates and frenemies-friendship bracelets are still telling a story. Today's most versions come with metal or embedded with diamantes...Start with your wrist story now, DIY!!
Consider this a refresher course .  Start with your wrist story now, DIY!!

Positive affirmation for the day:Friendship is a single soul dwelling in two bodies. To the world you may be just one person, but to one person you maybe the world.Thank you for being a friend!

VOGUE INDIA-- Avocado Face Masks

My Angel Linas Blog
In Vogue India which feature ‘Great Escapes’. The avocado mask got our attention. It is essential to learn about some specialized recipes for avocado face mask to obtain healthy skin. We decided to DIY with Linas.
Avocado Face Mask – Oily Skin: As avocado face mask gives deep cleansing which helps in getting rid of the dirt and grime accumulated on the face, it opens up the tiny ducts for cleansing and clearing the dead skin cells and prevent acne breakouts.
Honey and Avocado Face Mask Procedure: Take an avocado and cut it into two halves. Scoop the pulp from one of the halves of the fruit. Use a spoon to crush it to make a smooth paste. Take a cucumber and cut two slices. Add yogurt and honey to the pulp and stir well. Now spread the paste evenly all over the neck and face. Massage it well to soak it into the skin. Place cucumber slices on the eyes and rest for about 10–15 minutes until the mask sets. Use warm water to rinse your face and pat dry the skin

Avocado for Dry Skin: The nourishing and yummy fruit has long been touted as a skin savior for dry skin. You are what you eat. But what if you could also topically apply these skin foods for greater benefits? We spoke with skin esthetician, owner of Skin Kitchen, Mumbai and master potion creator Diya Dembla.
"Our skin makes an instant connection with Avocado," points out Dembla who encourages use of avocado as a face mask on mature skin. Apart from the healthy omega 3 fats that heal dry skin, avocado also helps tighten open pores and reduce pigmentation.
My Angel Linas blogHow to use: Go ahead and slather some on before scooping the rest into your guacamole.
White egg & Avocado Face mask:
  • Lemon juice – 1 Tbs
  • Egg white – 1
  •  ½ Avocado pulp
Procedure: Extract pulp from one of the halves.  Mix egg white to the pulp and then add lemon juice and mix thoroughly. Spread this mixture on the neck and face evenly and massage it well into the skin. Egg white helps the mask to set in thoroughly. Allow it to sit on the skin for about 20 minutes and then rinse it off with warm water, pat dry. You skin now becomes oil free. Egg whites usually clear the oil and grime that get accumulated in the skin pores. It also reduces the sebum or oil production.

Avocado Face Mask Benefits: Application of avocado facial mask aids in keeping the skin young and delays the aging process. Avocado oil is a good source of collagen. Collagen is an agent which is responsible for maintaining skin elasticity. Avocado oil moisturizes the skin naturally and gives glow to the skin.
The profusion of enzymes and vitamins aids in dealing with various skin problems such as acne, dark spots       and inflammation. All these vitamins and minerals give complete nourishment to the skin.

Positive affirmation for the day: Remember to spread the mask over your entire neck area as well as the neck is part of the face and should be treated with the same care.
You can use anyone of these avocado face masks to have a healthy looking skin.
DIY like we did it with Linas, IT WAS FUN!!

How to Transform an Avocado

I indulge in some trickery when I spy an avocado in the fruit bowl and decide to transform it. This sneaky raw avocado chocolate mousse reminds me just how incredibly versatile the humble avocado is.  Serve immediately or chill for an hour prior to serving, adjust the sweetness to your desire and top with a sprinkle (only) of grated      chocolate pieces (70% cocoa or above) and some berries... Deliciously satisfy with no        guilt - that is my type of treat - just remember this serves 2 and not 1!
Positive affirmation for the day: If you want something you have never had, then you are going to have to do something that you have never done.

Kid's Kitchen:: Date Balls

My Angel Linas blog
What a fun project this was today. Super easy, quick, healthy, delicious AND also kid-approved!
My grandson Linas loves chocolate. His mom doesn't allow him so much sweets. If your kid like to help out in the kitchen, then this project is a great one for a rainy day. And best of all, there is no baking involved.

DATE BALL INGREDIENTS
1/2 c raw walnuts and 1/2 c raw cashews/ or cup of almonds
10 dates,
1/2 lemon {or water if don't have this}
Optional: cacao powder, hemp seeds, cinnamon, vanilla, coconut flakes for topping
DATE BALL INSTRUCTIONS
Take all the pits out of the dates. Blend the dates and lemon juice until it turns into a paste (1 minute). In a food processor chop nuts on high until so fine that they almost turn into a flour. Scoop out a rounded tablespoon of date mixture. Using your hands and fingers roll the paste into the nuts until it forms a 1 inch ball. Then lightly roll that ball again through the chopped nuts. In order to roll these easily you MUST have moist hands in water without the mixture sticking excessively. I decided to do a layer of raw cacao powder. It gave them a dark truffle sort of a look. You can roll them in coconut powder, goji berries or even hemp seeds if you feel like it. Refrigerate balls for about 2 hours.
Your kids should like them as well. Of course I can't guarantee it, but give it a try. Great source of healthy fats, fiber and carbohydrates to keep their brains running smoothly.

NOTE: This recipe was adapted from fabulous PUREmamas - blog. Turned out just as good!

Enjoy & Happy Weekend!
